HUMMINGBIRD: Visit the ornithopter
link to learn more.
Using piano wire, balsa, sheer film paper, and a rubber band motor
to achive flight is possible. An engineering marvel, that you can build.

BPLANE SERIES All 4 Bplanes are approximately
8" long, 10" wing span.
SOPWITH CAMEL The following 4 models are a good place for beginners
to start. Not as difficult to build, although over night glue drying times
will stretch the 3 to 5 hours building time to 2 days. Adult help required.
|
|
SOPWITH #2 Similar to above, easier to build,
no rounding of wing edges.
In all BPLANES the balsa is 1/16" thin for lite-weight flight. Care
must be taken in construction.

|
PIPER CUB This model has a very thin tail
fin that supports the tail. I had problems with it, which by using some
ingenuity and extra balsa was solved.
|
|
PIPER #4 The dihedral-wing angle could be a catastrophe!
Directions say cut with razor. Don't. Use a sharp pencil point to inscribe
fold line. It took me two tries.

NOTE: These kits are for modelers. You will need some
tools: Hobby knife, straight pins, metric ruler, pliers for bending
propeller shaft, scissors, bonding agents: wood glue and white glue. Glue
is not provided. You will find glue in some kits, but in some cases
it will have hardened.
